After some thinking, I found another great use for a classic bicycle component. When I built up my road bike back in the early ninties, Greg Lemond was using a special set of handlebars referred to as "Drop In" bars. This road bar is very much like a standard drop bar but instead of terminating where most bars do, pointing toward the rear of the bicycle, these make a 90 degree bend and terminate toward the headset, giving anther hand position low and narrow. Well, I enjoyed riding them on the road so much, I decided to try them on my cyclocross bike, and after a few rides I felt they were pretty cool, but on the rough side of the trail a hand position that far from the shifters/brakes was not favorable. So Sunday night I found the best use for them in the sport of cyclocross, as a perfect mounting place for a camera.
For anyone else who has caught the fever, check out the video, and come join the fun. Sunday night, 6:30pm, @ RRCC.
