New to Cyclocross

So last Sunday night I met a few guys out at RRCC to test out the project bike I built up to race a little CX this year.
Well lets take a small step back. Last year I went down and watched my bro clean up in the GP race on an old Trek 520 frame with a 5 speed downtube shifting drivetrain. His bike, as always, was tuned to perfection, but the racing set me on fire. It took technique, and some strong legs, but a little momentum would go a long way, plus the cow bell was off the hook. By the way, he raced on platform pedals.
After a winter of hunting for that right priced frame, I got started. Revived some wheels I had laying around and put together what I think is a pretty sweet starting CX bike, with Dura ace parts of course. Sunday night I put it to the test on the course.

WOW!!!!

This stuff is FAST. I hit the deck 4 times, who'd of thunk getting off the bike at speed was as tough as that. Barriers, corners and sand. I would say its almost 3 times the speed of mountian biking with half the traction. Plus you have to get used to the feeling of rimming out 2-3 times a lap.
All in all, it was a blast, can't wait to get back on it next Sunday.

Get off your butt and come join the crowd...6:30pm Sunday @ RRCC.
